More Troubles For The Emiefeles As EFCC Declares Wife Wanted

EFCC declares Emefiele’s wife, three others wanted. The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission has declared Margaret Emefiele, wife of a former Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, Godwin Emefiele and three others wanted for money laundering. Margaret Emefiele, Eric Odoh, Anita Omoile and her husband, Jonathan Omoile were declared wanted on friday night for allegedly conspiring with the former CBN Governor to convert huge sums of money belonging to the Federal Government of Nigeria and committed felony. Details of their alleged money laundering offences were revealed by the EFCC in a mugshot portrait of the four suspects late friday night.  The Commission says obtaining money by false pretences and stealing is contrary to and punishable under Sections 411, 287, and 314 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State. Emiefele: Court Ask Nigeria To Pay N100Mn, EFCC Kicks

The Federal Capital Territory High Court Abuja has awarded the sum of 100 Million Naira against the Federal Government, in favour of the former Governor of the Central Bank, Godwin Emefiele for the violation of his right to personal liberty. Justice Olukayode Adeniyi while delivering Judgment also declared that Emefiele’s prolonged detention without trial, is a flagrant violation to his fundamental rights. The court also restrained the Federal Government and its agents from re-arresting or detaining Emefiele without an order of court.  The judgment was given in a fundamental human rights suit filed by the former CBN govenor following his prolonged detention in the custody of the Department of State Services. Emefiele had asked the court to order the respondents to pay the sum of N1bn damages and to restrain them from further arresting and or detaining him. Tinubu's investigator Reveals Former CBN Governor Emefiele Owns Three Banks

Pomatimes gathers that the Federal Government said it will take possession of two banks that were allegedly bought at a major discount by former Central Bank Governor Godwin Emefiele, according to a report by a special investigator appointed by President Bola Tinubu. “We have completed our investigation on this acquisition and we are on the verge of recovering these two banks for the federal government,” the report said. Emefiele was suspended shortly after Tinubu took office in late May, and was later arrested and detained on charges including fraud. The Nigerian leader subsequently ordered an investigation into the monetary authority’s operations and instructed it to work with security and anti-corruption agencies. Emefiele met his bail conditions and was released Saturday, Punch Newspapers reported, citing a correctional spokesperson.
