BREAKING.. NLC/TUC Reject FG/OPS N57K Minimum Wage

The organised labour in Nigeria has again reject3d an upward r3view of government's  ₦57,000 minimum wage from the initial N54, 000 Labour also rejected the organised private sector"s proposal of ₦57,000 from its initial N54,000. Meanwhile irganised  Labour has shifted grounds to  N497,000 from its earlier N615,000 proposal. Meanwhile, the 37-member reipartite committee meeting has been adjourned to Tuesday, May 28, which is next week. For now, organised labour made up of the Nigeria Labour Congress, NLC, and the Trade Union Congress, TUC, maintains its May 31 ultimatum to the federal government, for the announcement of a new national minimum wage.

NIGERIA LABOUR CONGRESS (NLC) AND TRADE UNION CONGRESS (TUC) JOINT PRESS RELEASE 8TH FEBRUARY, 2024 NON-IMPLEMENTATION OF AGREEMENT BY FEDERAL GOVERNMENT: DEEPENS MASS SUFFERING AND A SHOW OF BAD FAITH.  The Nigeria Labour Congress and the Trade Union Congress of Nigeria express profound concern over the non-implementation of the 16-point agreement reached with the Federal Government on October 2, 2023. Despite the passage of time, the majority of these crucial agreements remain unmet or negligibly addressed, indicating a blatant disregard for the principles of good faith, welfare and rights of Nigerian workers and Nigerians. These agreements which were reached with the federal government were focused on addressing the massive suffering and the general harsh socioeconomic consequences of the ill-conceived and ill-executed IMF/World Bank induced hike in the price of PMS and the Devaluation of the Naira.
