Buhari's Minister Held By EFCC Over Alleged Diversion Of Poverty Alkeviation Funds

Reports Say Nigeria's antigraft agency, the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC has detained a  former Minister in the government of Muhammadu Buhari. The former  Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management and Social Development minister, Sadiya Umar-Farouk is being held for corruption allegation. Sources close to the EFCC told newsmen that Sadiya Umar-Farouk is still being questioned by Interrogators at the Anti-graft Agency's office and was not allowed to go home after her visit on monday morning. Sadiya is being questioned over allegations of corruption in the handling of an over thirty-seven billion naira social intervention funds linked to the accounts of a Contractor, James Okwete during her tenure as Minister. ASUP Rejects Sinister Moves By FG To Reintroduce Wirhdrawn IGR Deductions

The Academic Staff union of polytechnics (ASUP), says it rejects any sinister motive by the federal Ministry of finance to reintroduce  through the backdoor a 50% deduction from polytechnics internally generated revenue. President Bola Tinubu had withdrawn an earlier directive to introduce a 40% deduction from IGR of tertiary institutions, after a stiff resistance from all the unions in Nigeria's tertiary institutions.
